MANNER OF CENSING THE OBLATIONS AT THE OFFERTORY
$ 7.00
At The Parish Press we are regularly asked to provide Cards with instructions regarding various elements of the Eucharistic Liturgy. Certainly over the centuries, books have contained descriptions of how and when to use incense. Indeed, even books of Ritual have had illustrations regarding both the “how” and the “when.” While there are various points in the Mass when incense is used, we have produced two charts. One is specifically designed to show how to Bless the Altar: first at the Introit (or Processional Hymn) and the other at the Offertory. The other chart specifically shows how to cense the Oblations, once the bread and wine have been offered. The prayers which accompany all of these actions are found in the Altar Cards which we have previously produced.
MANNER OF CENSING THE OBLATIONS AT THE OFFERTORY
This chart gives the details of censing the Oblations (Bread and Wine) once they have been offered up. Those prayers are found on our Altar Cards. This chart demonstrates with numbers and arrows the way in which the Oblations have been traditionally censed. Traditionally, immediately after the Oblations are censed the Celebrant then censes the Altar according to the manner described in that chart. This chart can also be framed and placed in the Sacristy, or it can also lie flat on the Mensa as a reminder to the Celebrant.
